Marketing & Media

Photograph and promote the show with the marketing and media committee.

The Impact of Marketing and Media

The Marketing and Media Committee serves an integral role in producing the show’s print and web promotional materials, the show program, and show photography. It’s rewarding to be part of photographing every cast member’s headshot photo, as well as to be part of shooting the photography for the show poster and other print materials.

Before Auditions

The Marketing Committee’s art director works with the Artistic Team and the preshow creative committee chairs to develop a “look and feel” for the show promotional materials. As the Artistic Team casts a vision for the show, the art director works to translate that vision into the color palette, typography, and art design that supports the director’s vision.

Preshow Marketing and Media Committee

In the weeks leading up to show week, the marketing and media team are responsible to create the show’s print package of posters, flyers, and postcards. They also seek to provide content for CPT’s social media promotion of the show to maximize ticket sales.

The Marketing and Media team holds a Media Day and takes studio headshots of each cast member and shoots the costume photos for the show’s poster and program cover. They also photograph rehearsals and the Costume Parade.

Parents volunteering with the Marketing and Media team also help to arrange media promotion for the show, acting as liaisons with local television stations for TV promo spots featuring cast and directors.

Parents also lend graphic design expertise to make promotional graphics for cast members and to provide art for cast buttons

Show Week Media Committee

Parent volunteers assigned to the show week Media Team focus on capturing photos and video of behind-the-scenes crews and committees at work, of rehearsals, and the dress rehearsal. Traditionally called the “Historian” committee, these parents aim to record the memories of show week so that families can have photos of their cast member on stage.

The show week Media Committee also conducts a studio portrait session so that every cast member has an opportunity for a studio-quality photo in each of their costumes.

The show’s videographer also is part of the  Media Committee.

This committee is often a great fit for parents with experience in photography, graphic design, social media marketing, and promotion or public relations and sales.
