Special Activities
Prepare to welcome show guests with treats, congrat gifts, and put together Opportunity Baskets.

The Impact of Special Activities
When friends and family come to our shows, they often want to give a congratulations gift to cast members of roses, cookies, candygrams, and charms. Show guests also are invited to buy tickets to get their name in a drawing for an “Opportunity Basket.” The Special Activities Committee prepares all of these things ahead of time, ordering the flowers, cookies, and candy, and collecting donations for the Opportunity Baskets. Â

Preshow Special Activities Committee
The Special Activities Committee work together to plan and prepare for the lobby experience at the show. They often find ways to tie in the show’s theme with the presentation of cast congrat gifts, cookies and candy, and other treats they are selling to guests. For example, the Special Activities Committee organized and arranged for the Golden Ticket chocolate bars–special chocolate bars wrapped with a “CPT Bar” wrapper, with one special Golden Ticket bar, with a voucher for $100 inside, sold each night. Special Activities parent volunteers use their creativity and organizational skills to make the lobby experience special!
These volunteers also connect with area businesses to collect donations for Opportunity Baskets. These baskets also are presented with a creative tie-in to the theme of the show. During each performance, tickets for these baskets full of wonderful items, vouchers, gift cards, or coupons are sold to guests, and after our final show the winners’ names are drawn and announced.
Volunteers for the Special Activities committee work together in the weeks leading up to the show. They gather together for working meetings and also work independently collecting donations for Opportunity Baskets.
Show Week Special Activities Committee
Parents assigned to Special Activities for their Show Week committee help set up the lobby for the shows. They prepare the tables where guests can purchase congrat gifts and treats, and they put the Opportunity Baskets on display. During each performance, they serve guests at the tables, selling the congrat gifts and other items to guests before and after the show, as well as at intermission.Â
The Special Activities Committee parent volunteers also clean up the lobby at the close of the show.
