Rehearsal Information
Everything you need to know about rehearsals.

Full production rehearsals provide around 90 hours of total rehearsal before we enter the theatre for show week rehearsals. We work hard to make every minute of rehearsal count. Our directors plan rehearsals as carefully as possible, to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.Â
Rehearsal Times and Details
Fridays 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Saturdays 8:45 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
Not all cast members will be called for every rehearsal. Check the callboard weekly on Wednesdays to know your call times!
Always arrive 10 minutes before call time!
Rehearsal Guidelines
- CPT-appropriate clothingÂ
- Dance shoes (no slip-ons or flip-flops)
- Labeled water bottle and pencil
- Quiet activity for downtime (book, etc.)
- Sack lunch (or money for pizza lunch order)
- No phones or electronics (phones are checked in with staff during rehearsal)
Callboard
The Show Callboard is the main medium of communication from directors and staff to cast and families. Please check the callboard regularly, especially Wednesday of rehearsal weeks to learn the weekend schedule. All cast member families receive access to the Callboard upon being cast in the show.
Rehearsal Etiquette
Rehearsing for a full production is hard work! Our Artistic Team and cast accomplish a lot in the weeks leading up to the show. To be so effective, we need everyone’s best attitude and effort!
We regularly say to cast, “You are always auditioning.” And that’s true. How cast members conduct themselves at rehearsal, including their dependability to arrive on time, impacts their future casting. Read more about factors taken into consideration in casting on our Audition Information page.
It’s important that your cast member knows CPT’s rehearsal etiquette. Please be sure to read this with your cast member.
- CPT rehearsals are closed. This means that parents, siblings, or friends are not able to sit in on rehearsals. Our cast members need to give their full focus to the rehearsal process.
- Cast should come ready to work hard, listen, and pay attention, giving an A+ attitude and A+ effort. They should learn to focus on the task at hand, to listen carefully to directors, and to follow instructions.
- Check-in each rehearsal with CPT staff upon arrival.Â
- Ten minutes early is on time. Rehearsals begin on time. Arriving at call time, which is the rehearsal start time, is considered tardy.
- Downtime is for following along in the script, waiting quietly, and listening for your name to be called.
- No electronics are permitted. Phones are checked in with CPT staff and kept in a secure location.
- Cast members are to be respectful of all CPT staff, directors, and rehearsal parents. All CPT cast, volunteers, and staff are mindful to show respect to our host venue by keeping it neat and orderly during rehearsal and leaving it clean at the close of rehearsal.
- Dress appropriately. Follow the CPT Dress Code.
- Long hair should be pulled back into a pony tail and pinned away from the face.
Extra Rehearsals
Sometimes cast members are called for extra rehearsals. This is especially likely for those cast in lead roles. Auditioners are asked to share their availability for extra rehearsals on their audition forms.
