Attendance Policy
Students are expected to attend their CPT class. If your student will be missing more than two classes, please contact the Class Coordinator. Scheduled absences should be noted on your student’s Behavioral Guidelines form on the first class day. If your student will be missing the final class/Showcase, please make sure to notify the class coordinator and teacher during the first class.
Please note: Students who are cast in a production are required to attend their CPT classes for the entire session and participate in Class Showcase.
Form Requirement
All students must bring a completed Medical Release Form and CPT Behavioral Guidelines to the first day of classes.
CPT Dress Code Policy
Students need to dress according to the Dress Code at all CPT functions.
CPT expects all students to dress modestly and appropriately, in a way that promotes a healthy environment and eliminates distractions.
• Overly tight or revealing clothing is not acceptable, regardless of gender.
• Shorts must be worn over leggings or compression shorts.
• Skirts, shorts or dress length must be longer than mid-thigh (approx. finger-tip length) unless over leggings.
• Midriffs must be covered, even when arms are raised or when seated, regardless of gender.
• Undergarments are not to be visible or exposed by any student, regardless of gender.
• Appropriate footwear for safe movement must be worn, especially during dance classes or show rehearsals. No sandals, crocs, or flip flops allowed.
• Sleeveless shirts must be at least 2” wide across the shoulders (approx. the width of 3 fingers).
Only students who observe the dress code will be allowed to participate in CPT activities. Others will be asked to sit out until they are wearing appropriate attire.
Illness Policy
In order to have production classes and rehearsals, each student needs to be well enough to fully participate. If your student is sick or contagious with fever, strep throat, conjunctivitis (pink eye), chicken pox, flu, rash or a cold, keep them home and contact the Class Administrator.
Communication
We are here to serve you. Communicate your concerns or direct your questions to the Class Administrator.
Note: CPT Staff or Directors will not communicate with your students over text, direct message, or email without another CPT adult or the student’s parent in the group.
Production Audition Eligibility Policy
Students who are ages 8-18 and enrolled in at least one class (includes enrollment show) during the current session are eligible to audition for the full production in that session.
Production Policies
Fees, Costs, and Commitments
Participating in a CPT full production comes with associated fees, costs, and commitments. We do our best to keep these transparent and reasonable.
Production Fee
The production fee helps cover costs such as costumes, sets and props. This fee also includes a show T-shirt, a cast photo button, and a show poster. Production fees are not refundable and are not due until after a student is cast in the show.
Ticket Sales
Each student cast in the show is responsible to sell at least 15-20 tickets.
Greenroom Tub and Supplies
Purchasing & equipping a Greenroom tub. Cast members need a plastic storage bin, or siblings may share plastic stackable drawers, to house their personal items during Tech/Show Week. A more exhaustive list of Greenroom tub contents is found under “Greenroom Guidelines.”
Stage Make-up Kit
New students will need to purchase a stage make-up kit for their first production. One make-up kit will last many shows. Additional makeup may need to be purchased individually, such as mascara or eyelashes.
Shoes and Hosiery
Families will need to plan to provide shoes and hosiery, depending on requirements for the show.
Miscellaneous Optional Expenses
Cast families will have opportunities to contribute snacks, purchase rehearsal lunches (or provide a sack lunch), and contribute to parent potlucks during show week.
Cast families will also have optional opportunities to purchase extra show t-shirts, congrat ads in the show program, and contribute to director gifts.
Parent Participation
Parents are required to serve a minimum of 25 hours per child cast on a Pre-Show Production Committee. Parents can serve together or individually, at least one parent must serve.
At least one parent is also required to work during tech/show week. This includes one parent participating in Load-in Saturday, Monday-Saturday rehearsals and shows, and Strike after the final show.
Production Audition Eligibility Policy
Students who are ages 8-18 and enrolled in at least one class (includes enrollment show) during the current session are eligible to audition for the full production in that session.
Attendance Policy
Rehearsals & Performances
Cast members are required to be present and on time for all rehearsals. Roll is taken at all rehearsals. Planned absences must be submitted on the production audition form.
Unexcused absences are not permitted and may affect your future involvement in the show and future casting. Those with more than two (2) unexcused absences or three (3) late arrivals may be dismissed from the show without a refund of the production fee. If a cast member is absent from rehearsal (or is late for rehearsal or leaves rehearsal early), unless it was previously stated on the audition form, there is a possibility that they will be cut from any scenes that were rehearsed that day. This is not a punishment; it is simply a natural consequence of the pace of our rehearsal schedule. New material is learned each week and may not be taught again.
Cast members should be punctual! Plan to arrive at every rehearsal 10 minutes early, ready to practice.
Note: Taking a cast member out of rehearsal early is the same as an absence and needs to be planned just like any other absence.
Tech Week Attendance
Attendance for cast members and parent volunteers is mandatory for Tech Week (load-in Saturday through strike after the final show), and all performances.
Early dismissal from school may be necessary to meet required call times during tech week. This includes missing two full days of school for performances or dress rehearsals. No absences are permitted during tech/show week.
